In celebration of Roger Corman’s birthday on April 5th, Greg has selected the 1959 film “A Bucket of Blood” which was produced by Mr. Corman to view this episode. Join Greg and Karen as they discuss the film while they enjoy a “Beatnik Cocktail”. The recipe that Greg found on “liquor.com” is below.
Beatnik Cocktail Recipe
• 1 1/2 oz amaro
• 1 oz tawny port
• 1 oz bourbon
• orange wheel for garnish
Instructions:
- Add all ingredients into a mixing glass with ice and stir until well-chilled.
- Strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
- Garnish with an orange wheel.
A Brief Synopsis: Nerdy Walter Paisley, a maladroit busboy at a beatnik café who doesn’t fit in with the cool scene around him, attempts to woo his beautiful co-worker, Carla, by making a bust of her. When his klutziness results in the death of his landlady’s cat, he panics and hides its body under a layer of plaster. But when Carla and her friends enthuse over the resulting artwork, Walter decides to create some bigger and more elaborate pieces using the same artistic process.
