Attack of the Killer Tomatoes – SSP051

Attack of The Killer Tomatoes

Karen was in the mood to watch “something fun and light hearted” this week, so she has chosen to subject us to the 1978 horror film spoof, “Attack of the Killer Tomatoes”. Join Greg and Karen as they discuss and critique the film while drinking a “Bloody Mary”. Below is the drink recipe that Greg discovered on absolutdrinks.com.

Bloody Mary Recipe

• 1 1/2 oz vodka
• 5 oz tomato juice
• 4 dashes hot sauce
• 1/3 oz worcestershire sauce
• 1/3 oz lemon juice
• 1 pinch ground black pepper
• 1 pinch garlic salt
• 1 wedge lemon
• 1 stick celery

Instructions:

  1. Fill a mixing glass with ice cubes.
  2. Add all ingredients.
  3. Stir and pour into a highball glass.
  4. Garnish with a lemon wedge and a celery stick.

A Brief Synopsis: In a spoof of low-budget sci-fi films, oozing tomatoes go on the rampage, splattering innocent victims.

Some of the topics discussed and highlights of this episode include:

  • Bloody Mary Cocktail – Where did its name come from? Is it really a god hangover cure?
  • Alfred Hitchcock & Hopkinsville KY – What could these two have in common?
  • Adam 12 – Greg reminisces about this TV crime drama.
  • Correlle Dinner Wear – Apparently Karen knows her plates.
  • Tomatoes are fruits – Who Knew?
  • Airplane The Movie – Parody done well.
  • STP – Oil company, or short for Stone Temple Pilots?
  • The San Diego Chicken (AKA the KGB Chicken) – Greg is shocked that Karen has no idea who this character is.

Our rating of the film:
